Vinyl Storm Security Doors 2

Many shoppers are beginning to realize the benefits of vinyl storm security doors. These doors are more durable and long lasting than their wood or metal counterparts. The vinyl is specially treated to withstand sun damage and aren’t susceptible to water damage. They’re just as strong and last longer that other types of doors. The Columbia Manufacturing Corporation are making a large variety of these doors.

The Magnolia vinyl storm security door was created for those who wanted something a little more old fashioned and traditional. A six inch kick plate sits on the bottom of the screen and allows people to push on the door without causing any damage to the attached wire screen. This door has no push bar, which makes it unique from the other Columbia doors, but is also lets the small details shine through. On all four corners vinyl pieces have been cut and twisted to form elegant scrolls. It’s easy to see this one on the front of an old plantation home in the south. The door is 80” tall and is available in only two sizes, the larger widths of 32 and 36 inches.

Columbia adapted the classic design of the Magnolia to create the Lexus, another of their vinyl storm security doors. In the middle of the door sit’s a one inch wide push bar, with another similarly sized bar located a few inches lower. In between this door and the four inch tall kick plate at the bottom of the door is an empty space with the same scrolled decorations in each of the four corners. Like the Magnolia, the Lexus measures 80 inches tall and comes in the two larger sizes of 32 and 36 inches wide.

The company has named the most highly designed of their vinyl storm security doors the Columbia. This door has more decoration than almost all of their other doors and combines the designs of several different models. In between a four inch kick plate at the bottom and a one inch wide push bar sits a small area with four decorative scrolls on the corners. A second push bar sits above the first, with small pieces of vinyl twisted to form spindles in the middle. These spindles look exactly like their wood counterparts, yet are more durable. Above the push bars there are even more decorative scrolls placed in the corners of the door for a total of eight scrolls on the front. The Columbia comes in two widths: 32” and 36”, with both standing 80” tall.

One of the more popular models of vinyl storm security doors from the Columbia Manufacturing Corporation is the Verona. The door has a classic look that fits the décor of most houses and buildings. A four inch kick plate and a one inch push bar provide the perfect backdrop for a series of four one inch vertical slats. All of these pieces are made of vinyl and protect the attached metal screen from damage caused during day to day events. All of the pieces are fused together so that they won’t break off or become damaged. The Verona is available only in white and comes in three widths: 30”, 32” and 36”. Each of the sizes stands approximately 80” tall.

Columbia has also adapted the Verona model to create the Verona 5B. This door is the same as the earlier model except that it includes five vertical slats on the bottom as opposed to the four found with the other door. It comes in the same white color, but has only two sizes available for purchase: the 32” and 36” sizes. This vinyl storm security door is only available through special orders.

The most basic of all the vinyl storm security doors on the market today is the Full View from Columbia. This door contains absolutely nothing in terms of design. The main focus is the wire mesh screen behind the door, which can be removed and replaced when needed. It does contain a heavy duty kick plate on the bottom of the door to keep individuals from damaging the attached wire screen. The door stands 80 inches tall from top to bottom and comes in three different widths: 30”, 32” and 36”. Currently the door is only available in white vinyl.

Columbia includes all the hardware needed for the installation of the door, but lets the homeowner decide which way to hang the door. They’re reversible for easy hanging to open to either the right or the left. Exclusive to the company is the adjustability factor. These doors actually expand and retract to fit doorframes varying in size of up to one inch. This includes an inch taller or shorter and an inch wider or thinner. These features make the vinyl storm security doors from Columbia extremely popular.
