Vinyl Storm Security Doors

Vinyl security doors and storm doors have a number of advantages over traditional wood or metal doors. These doors feature a moisture resistant exterior, made of a material that doesn’t bend, rust or chip. The only maintenance required for these doors is a little soap and water every few months. They’re also welded during construction to ensure that the pieces always stay together and never pull apart or break. In addition, vinyl storm security doors from the Columbia Manufacturing Corporation can be adjusted to fit doors up to 1” taller or shorter than a traditional doorframe and 1” wider or thinner than the doorframe.

The Cascade features a unique kick plate on the bottom and push bar in the middle to prevent any damage of the attached screen. The manufacturer included two one inch vinyl bars, one vertical and one horizontal to add a touch of design to this door. As this is vinyl, it comes in only one color, which is white. It stands 80” tall, but can be adjusted to fit doorframes of 79-81 inches. In addition it comes in two sizes, the 32” and 36” widths and will adjust slightly to fit off size doorframes.

The T-Bar vinyl security and screen door is a design that the company also makes in steel and wood. This design is also imitated by several other companies because it provides basic protection and functionality. The bottom of the door has a thin kick plate, while a push bar in the center provides a small amount of protection from people pushing against the screen. This attached screen can also be removed and replaced with glass or plastic. The T-Bar vinyl security storm door comes only in white as is common with vinyl doors. Columbia makes it in three different sizes: 30”, 32” and 36” wide.

Columbia modeled the Sierra vinyl storm security door on their wood door called the Spindle. These two doors have the same basic design except that this one is made of vinyl. A thick kick plate along the bottom edge and a thin push bar in the middle are made of vinyl and reduce the amount of pressure or tension on the wire screen. Small three inch pieces of vinyl are twisted and molded and twisted to look like hand turned wood spindles. Beneath this is another push bar and then two vertical bars are added into the design. These bars further reduce the amount of tension on the attached screen. The Sierra comes only in white, but has three sizes for owners to choose from: 30, 32 and 36 inches wide. The Sierra is also available in an NS version, which looks exactly the same except that it eliminates the spindles from the middle of the design.

This same company also manufactures a vinyl security storm door called the Salem. This door has two vertical vinyl tubes and four horizontal tubes set inside a thick kick plate and thin border all made of vinyl. Behind all the vinyl is a wire mesh screen that protects homeowners from vandals and people outside the house. The vinyl pieces incorporated into the design help protect the screen and reduces damage from daily wear and tear. This white vinyl security storm door stands 80” tall and comes in the three standard sizes of 30, 32 and 36 inches. The Salem is also completely reversible, meaning the door can be hung in either direction so it opens to the left or right.

The most basic of all the vinyl security screen doors offered by Columbia is the Seaside. This door contains only a push bar in the middle, a three inch kick plate on the bottom and a one inch vinyl border. The border holds the enclosed screen in place, while the other features work to protect the screen against any extreme damage from the homeowner. This white door comes in a 32” size and a 36” size, which can be adjusted to fit slightly wider or less wide doors.

The Ensenada model is easily the most highly designed of all the vinyl doors made by Columbia and possibly their other doors as well. Though this door is white, it has large traces of black in its design and in certain features. A door guard on the bottom protects the screen from kicks and dings, while the push bar is also black. In between these two spaces is a uniquely designed series of diagonal boxes that almost look three-dimensional. All of this is then encased in a one inch border of white vinyl. When ordered the door stands 80” tall and 36” wide, but it can be adjusted to fit different widths and heights of up to one inch in variance.

These vinyl security storm doors are available from Columbia Manufacturing Corporation. The doors share a few things in common, but provide a multitude of designs so every shopper can find something they like.
