Security Storm Doors

Security storm doors are one of the more popular varieties of security doors on the market today. The reason being that these doors all contain an attached storm that allows homeowners to leave the door open during the warmer months, to let in a little sunlight. Shoppers also have the option of buying a glass or Plexiglas window that attaches to the back of the door or slides right over the storm. This allows homeowners to use the door even during the colder months, when they still want to let sun into the house.

Favorite Pastime is a favorite for those who love tennis. The white iron storm door shows a tennis player in motion along the bottom, complete with a tennis ball flying through midair. The Bird of Paradise from Reed Brothers requires the shopper specify right handed or left handed when ordering. This decides where the hinge is located and the type of hinge used. Shoppers can also combine two of the doors to create one large showcase piece. With a one inch border and attached doorframe, it’s easy for novices to use.

The security storm doors described here are all made of wrought iron and coated with a special powder coating that sets in the color permanently. They are available in three sizes: 30” by 80”, 32” by 80” and 36” by 80”. Many of these security storm doors such as the Birds of Paradise can also be doubled up or used together to fill a larger doorframe. Those who need a double door should contact the seller directly to ensure it fits the size they need.

Once the frame of the door is laid out, the wrought iron is coated and prepared for the next step. Individual once inch pieces of wrought iron are twisted and curved to create the overall design of the door. If the door includes flat, large pieces like the Sweetheart or Favorite Pastime, those pieces need to be made separately. Those pieces are then woven into the design and sealed in place using a specific type of epoxy.

Security storm doors are a great choice for those who want protection, but also want a nice design on their house. These customers not only want those things, but they also want the ease and convenience of a storm door. With the doors described here, they get the best of both worlds.
