Security patio doors add a little touch of elegance, class or even humor and whimsy to a home. They attach directly onto an existing doorframe, giving the homeowner the protection they so desperately need. These security patio doors are typically made of wrought iron or steel, with the design carefully added to the frame.
The Rose Bloom has a similar look to the original security screen doors. Made of white wrought iron, this one has delicate rose bushes on opposite corners of the door as well as several birds moving through the air. Rose Deluxe looks very similar except that the roses are delicately moving through the door instead of being bunched together in bushes.
The Rose Panel might have a better look for some who wants more decoration. The black wrought iron pieces are darker and make the images really pop, especially when compared to a lighter main door. The black security bars almost look like trellises for the roses to slowly climb up through the air.
Spanish Scroll has a more traditional look for a wrought iron security screen door. The top and bottom of this door feature large groupings of scrolled metal pieces that add a nice touch to an otherwise plain door. The St. Louis has a taller than regulation size, which adds to its skyscraper type look. Made of white iron, this door looks even better when used side by side. Stained Glass also has a geometric flare created out of white metal, but it also exactly mimics a Tiffany & Co. stained glass window.
Traditional design elements are obvious in the Valenica. Created out of wrought iron and made to look like wood, this features delicate curving scrolls along the top and bottom. The Sicilian is a very similar screen door, only this one has a curved or arched top edge to fit that type of doorframe.
The San Miguel is the quintessential geometric designed storm security door. Pieces of white metal are connected together to form beautiful looking diamond and rectangular shapes. The San Francisco has a thick white border circling around the edges, with curved pieces in the center forming flowers and pineapple type shapes.
The Summer Deco is another of the plain white metal storm doors. This one features small images of birds in flight and flowers scattered along the bottom. Birds are also featured on the white metal door known as Summer Catch. A group of cats sitting along the bottom of the door seem to be watching the birds in flight.
The Kleos storm door has a large number of scrolling pieces scattered around to form an unusual design or pattern across the front of the door. The same is true of the Elegance, but in this storm door the pattern’s made to look like flowers in bloom.
The Stratford is completely traditional with dark brown iron used to create a wood inspired security door. The curved pieces of iron make for one large oval in the center of the door. The Tuscan door has a similar look with delicate pieces of black metal curved to make a traditional design on the front of the door.
All of the security patio doors listed above are available from First Impressions, though there are other options out there. The Woodguard security door from
Reed Brothers is the ultimate in wood security doors. The Colonial pattern on this door is made up of 3/4” square tubes to make a series of smaller woods squares. This pattern is contained inside a 3 1/2” wood frame or border. Four barrel hinges on the side of the door provide stability and durability once hung. Adding to that durability is 24 gauge galvanized and perforated metal pieces. In addition the door features tamper proof hinges to protect against invaders. Once this baby is locked, it’s locked.
Liberty Home Products is another company selling security patio doors, however they have a number of options beyond even those listed from First Impressions. They do sell some of the same patio security doors, but they also have options not available from that company. The Split Trim and Split Trim II are good examples of this. Each door features a three inch wide push bar in the middle of the door and a large screen attached to the back. They also offer the American II, which looks like a large series of small rectangles or squares scattered around the face of the door. All of their pieces are made of wrought iron.
Patio security doors do more than just provide protection for homeowners, they also provide a touch of beauty to the home. They easily install onto an existing doorframe and can be removed when the homeowner decides they don’t need it anymore. They also have the added benefit of raising the value of the home by showing the security and protection they provide.
