The one thing that many security doors share in common is that they don’t include the external hardware. The doors include only a hole along one side of the wood or metal where the handle, latch or keyhole fits. This allows homeowners to customize their doors, using a handle or latch that fits not only the style of the door, but also the style of the house.
Zinc-alloy is often used in the creation of this type of security door hardware. The material looks nice, but is also durable and resistant to damage from the elements. The handle can sit outside for years and show no signs of damage even after a rainstorm or snowstorm.
China Simoto is a company specializing in zinc-alloy hardware.
The XD-HL15 model is also known as the Classical Motif because the handle has a classic design to it. This model features a four inch long curved metal base with a curved handle for comfortable use. The back side features a locking mechanism, but it does not come with a key nor does it work as a key lock handle. It can only be locked and unlocked from the inside. In addition the XD-HL15 comes in a bronze finish for those who prefer darker colors over the classic silver of zinc-alloy.
The XD-HL1 was the first type of security door hardware manufactured by
China Simoto, which explains how it got its name. This handle is the most basic and plain of all their designs, containing no design elements. Instead it’s just a basic rectangular metal plate with the handle on top. This plate measures 5 inches long by nearly 4 inches wide. Like the previous model, it can only be locked and unlocked by the person inside the house or behind the door.
China Simoto also makes a plated door handle that works well security doors. Measuring five inches long by four inches wide, it’s available in two finishes: stainless steel and bronze, though both are made of zinc-alloy. A delicately designed floral pattern stretches across the top and bottom of the handle, giving it an eye catching look.
Similar to the design described above is the XD-HL12. The only real difference between the two handles is that this one has a more elaborate design and has two different color tones in the final piece. The inner portion of the handle contains a slightly lighter color than the other portions of the design, which gives it a nice two-tone look.
The Two-Tone Plated Door Handle of XD-HL11 is fairly similar to these designs as well. The handle is available in a stainless steel finish or bronze finish and measures five inches tall by four inches wide. The company has given this one an antique look by darkening up the designed areas on the handle and on the plate. On the stainless steel version the design looks almost black, while on the bronze version it looks darkened and similar to copper.
The XD-HL13 has a slight Art Deco feel to it and is also known as the more plain sounding Silver Colored Door Handle. Created to work with both the interior and exterior doors the company manufactures, it contains a simple latch on the front as well as a keyhole. This modern design works well on traditional looking doors, but also looks nice when placed against one of the fancier exterior security doors.
The XD-HL14 is considered the Art Nouveau of security door hardware and handles thanks in part to it’s sleek design. Created to mimic the classic architectural style known as Art Nouveau, it features a gently sweeping design and a soft curved handle as well as a keyhole entry for those who need one. It’s available in a traditional stainless steel color as well as an antiqued bronze.
Those looking for something a little more traditional will find what they’re looking for in the XD-HL25, which the company refers to simply as a Plated Door Handle. Zinc-alloy is used to create a durable and long lasting handle and then covered in either a bronze finish or classic stainless steel finish. A simple rectangular plate measuring five inches long by a little under four inches wide contains a basic design and raised door handle. The entire plate slips inside the door frame and can be held in place with only two screws. This handle contains a plain keyhole on the front and a locking mechanism on the back. It works with both interior and exterior security doors.
These different models represent the best types of door handles create by the
China Simoto group, one of the leaders in security doors. Their products can be hard to find in the United States, but they do offer direct sales through their website. Anyone can easily gain access to new hardware for their security door.
