A new trend in the home security door world is the use of steel hinges. It shouldnt be surprising that the powerhouse company
Columbia Manufacturing Corporation is behind this new innovation. Essentially this door combines the best of both worlds: the strength of steel with the durability of vinyl. Most of the doors are made entirely of vinyl epoxy, but the hinges and interior are made of steel. There are quite a few designs of this type offered by the company.
Those shoppers looking for something basic and more natural should look at the
Columbia, which is also available as a vinyl security door from the same company. A large six inch kick plate on the bottom of the door holds two vertical tubes of 1/2 diameter. The one inch border on the outside of the door keep four horizontal tubes in place and create a pattern of fifteen different squares on the front of the door. Galvanized steel was used in the construction of the door, the material was then coated with epoxy and fired to seal in the color and strength. The attached wire screen and expanse of empty space lets the light in, while keeping bugs and intruders out. The
Columbia measures 80 high and comes in two sizes: 32 and 36 wide.
The Bravo steel security storm door contains a three inch tall kick plate on the bottom and a one inch wide push bar on the middle of the door. These pieces work together to reduce the amount of tension and strain put on the screen of the door. Though the Bravo is a steel frame covered in epoxy, its only available in one color, the basic grey. It also only comes in the two larger sizes for security doors, the 32 and 36 widths.
Customers also have the option of picking the Steelbreeze, as either a single or double door. The door can also be ordered as a right handed opening door or a left handed opening door, for those who have that as a major concern. A three inch wide push bar on the middle of the door protects the attached screen from any damage. Its available in four different colors: Navajo, Bronze, Grey and White. The single door is available in three sizes: 30, 32 and 36 and the double door comes in 60, 64 and 72, with all doors measuring 80 tall.
The Regal View is another option offered by the
Columbia Manufacturing Company. This door has a three inch wide push bar in the middle and small pieces of curved metal underneath. The bottom half of this home security door uses the small pieces of steel to create a diamond pattern and design. Galvanized steel is used in the construction, with the color added over the top using a specialized epoxy. The company includes all the necessary hardware and allow customers to choose from either a white or bronze finish. The home security door is only available in one size, which is 36 wide by 80 tall.
The Monaco is easily the most highly designed of all the home security doors offered by this company. The door itself is made of galvanized steel covered in epoxy and additional pieces of galvanized steel were used to create the design. Stretching from the top to the bottom of the door are one inch long pieces of steel, with a scrolled design added on top of that. Customers have the option of picking the bronze or white finish, though they only have one choice when it comes to size. This home security door is only available in the standard 36 by 80 size.
The Oakhurst is another option in home security doors from this company. While they only offer it in the bronze color, they do have two sizes, which are 32 by 80 and 36 by 80. The bottom of the door has a wide kick plate, while the middle has a large push bar. This protects the attached screen from incurring any damage. Between the kick bar and push bar is a series of gold colored dots added to the screen, which add a nice design to the otherwise plain door. Like their other choices, this one features a galvanized steel frame and steel hinges, all coated in a thick colored epoxy.
The doors listed here all share a few traits in common. The corners and joints are all tightly secured using machine technology and a heavy duty water resistant adhesive. They are all reversible and can by hung to open to the left or right. The fiberglass used in the construction of the screens is resistant to damage from the sun and theyre all adjustable of up to one inch in both height and width. Its no wonder why these doors are so popular.
